We’ve turned to Consensus Inc. to handle our community outreach efforts for years because they understand our business and our values, and we can count on them to represent us on the ground in any community. They know how to promote constructive dialogue which helps us create a win-win situation for us and the community wherever we decide to locate a new store.

CASE STUDY

The Home Depot - Western United States Store Openings:
Community Relations and Support-Building Program for Locating New Stores

ISSUE|;SUCCESS

The Home Depot has for many years been expanding the number of stores it operates across the Western United States.  In each community, approvals from the local jurisdiction must be obtained to move forward with store development.  Local residents frequently have concerns about the size of the store, the traffic it will generate and its effect on nearby small businesses. In order for local elected officials to support The Home Depot, they must have visible evidence of local grassroots support.

Since September 1996, Consensus Inc. has been building community support for The Home Depot as they seek approvals for locating new stores or expanding current stores in California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah and Montana.
