CASE STUDY

Public Involvement Program for the Greater Los Angeles and Ventura County Veterans Home

ISSUE|;SUCCESS

The California Department of Veterans Affairs proposed building three new Veterans Homes in the Greater Los Angeles area - a 400-bed facility in West Los Angeles on the United States Department of Veterans Affairs land (VA Property) in Brentwood, and two 60-bed facilities in Lancaster and Saticoy (Ventura County). Consensus Inc. managed the public awareness and public involvement programs for the environmental review process of all three veterans homes. Due to the higher level of interest and participation needed for the larger West Los Angeles Home, and the community’s ongoing concerns with any development in the area (especially any development on the VA Property), a more in-depth strategy was developed to ensure the community had a voice in the process.
