Community Relations for a Luxury Condominium Development

Council Rock Partners proposed a luxury condominium complex in Studio City, CA to provide new opportunities for homeownership at the intersection of Aqua Vista Street and Fair Avenue. Neighbors living adjacent to the development site, the surrounding community as well as leaders of the Studio City Homeowners Association and the Studio City Neighborhood Council had raised concerns regarding traffic and parking issues, and a request by the developer to exceed the City’s height limit. In addition, neighbors and community leaders had experienced a recent development adjacent to this property, in which they felt the developer had not kept its promises and had not communicated fairly with them. Faced by this negative sentiment, Council Rock Partners had to overcome an “open wound” situation in addition to general anti-development sentiments in the community.
